Spray Foam Insulation in Etowah, TN

Etowah grew up around the railroad, and a lot of McMinn County's housing stock dates back generations — beautiful old homes, postwar ranches, and farmhouses that were insulated decades ago with materials that quit working a long time ago. Settled fiberglass, moisture-damaged batts, and bare-dirt crawl spaces are things we see on nearly every job around here. The result is the same every time: rooms that never feel comfortable, a musty smell that won't go away, and a power bill that keeps climbing. Foametix seals all of it with open-cell and closed-cell spray foam — attics, crawl spaces, walls, and metal buildings — without changing a thing about how your home looks from the street. Veteran-owned, 17+ years in business, 4.9 stars across 75+ Google reviews, serving Etowah, Athens, Englewood, and the rest of McMinn County from our Chattanooga base.

NEW BUILD, BUILDER-MINIMUM

Why Etowah homes need spray foam

A lot of these houses still have their original fiberglass — if they were insulated at all — and after 40 or 50 years it's settled, sagged, and lost most of its R-value. The crawl spaces underneath are vented, open to the dirt, and damp year-round, which feeds mold and pushes that musty smell up through the floors. Up top, the thin attic insulation lets heat pour through the ceiling all summer and bleed straight out all winter. Spray foam seals both ends: the attic deck gets air-sealed from above, the crawl space gets encapsulated from below, and the house finally holds the temperature your HVAC is paying to create. The comfort change is something you feel the same day.

OPEN-CELL VS. CLOSED-CELL

Which foam is right for your home

We use both, and we'll show you exactly where each one earns its keep. Open-cell foam is lighter, expands to fill every cavity, runs about R-3.7 per inch, and is the right call for most attics and interior walls — it also cuts down on sound, which old houses appreciate. Closed-cell foam is dense, about R-6.5 to R-7 per inch, and works as a combined air and moisture barrier while stiffening the structure — exactly what a damp McMinn County crawl space, a metal shop, or an exterior wall needs. You won't get pushed toward the pricier option where it isn't warranted. We spec the foam to the space, explain why, and hand you the number in writing.

By applying spray foam directly to the underside of the roof deck, it now insulates the attic space from the extreme heat that once radiated through the hot shingles, sheathing, and roof. The severe temperatures no longer exist in the attic. In short, the attic now becomes a passively "conditioned" space of the house that is just as comfortable as any other room in the home.

Benefits

A roof system insulated with Foametix spray foam reduces energy several ways. Energy loss from ducts located in the attic is essentially eliminated. The top of the building is much tighter resulting in less infiltration and exfiltration, so excess moisture isn't pulled into the attic. Infiltration through the ceiling is also reduced. In addition, the attic temperature is remarkably lower, which further reduces energy loads.

Energy Savings

  • We're building near Calhoun — should we spray foam now?

Yes. Foaming open walls and the attic before drywall is the cheapest, cleanest time, and it seals the gaps fiberglass leaves from day one.

  • Do you do the big distribution and carpet buildings off I-75?

We do — foam under a metal roof stops condensation and slashes the cost of conditioning large commercial space.

  • How far is Calhoun for you?

It's down I-75 from our shop and we run the corridor regularly. Call 423-710-2529 for a free estimate.
