What we see in Sweetwater homes

Sweetwater has been a town since the 1850s and was incorporated in 1875. That's a long build-out, and it shows up in the walls.

The old in-town and valley houses. Sweetwater still has pre-Civil War stock standing - the Charles Owen House on Mayes Street dates to the late 1820s, and the McCroskey House out on Sweetwater-Vonore Road was built in 1859. Houses from that stretch were framed before anybody thought about an air barrier. Open stud bays. Stone or brick pier foundations. A rim joist you can see daylight through.
