What we see in South Pittsburg homes

The name changed from Battle Creek Mines to South Pittsburg in 1876 because the investors intended to build a southern version of Pittsburgh. They built a town to match. Three distinct eras of housing came out of that, and each one leaks differently.

Boom-era houses, 1880s through the 1910s. By 1887 the South Pittsburg City Company had thrown up tenement blocks, hotels and houses along the avenues they named Cedar, Elm, Walnut, Holly and Pine. On a house like that we get the most out of two places: the attic and the crawl space.
